Can’t Sleep

5:07 a.m. on a Saturday, and I’m wide awake. Why? Heck if I know, but I woke up about 3:30, totally wide awake, from a deep sleep, and that was that. I tossed and flopped for a while, then got up to check the kids- everyone is off deep in the Land of Nod, all breathing, all covered and all angelic looking.

Hmmm. After poking around the house to see if everything else was well, I figured I would take advantage of the rare peace and quiet and tweak with my header. Probably I should go get on the treadmill and really make good use of my time, but… naaaah. That would be too responsible and maybe I’ll try and go back to bed…

I know the kids are going to be bouncing on me in about an hour, and I’ll suddenly be very tired…  Looks like it’s going to be a Diet Coke kind of day.

  1. I’ve got a similar dilemma. Except I can’t fall asleep lately until 3 am, and my husband has been waking up every morning around 5am so between the two of us poking around, neither gets a very good night’s sleep. I’m sure if we had a treadmill it would be similarly neglected…

  2. Julie- I use a scrapbook program, then export the page as a jpg… it works perfectly.

Sarah- those preggo hormones will get you all messed up on sleep! About a year ago, right before Abby was born, I was all wacky- staying up all night, then unable to function for the day, then staying up again…

    hsf-thanks!

  3. Your new header suits you perfectly. I love it! One of these days I want to personalize my blog a little more.

Insomnia is my nemesis and the bane of my existence. However, one thing that has helped me a lot lately is I have been trying to go bed at the same time every night. Routines seem to work for me.

Hope your diet coke works for you today :) !!

  4. oooh, now I’m craving a vanilla diet coke….
used to be an addict, but Mr Renn made me wean myself before we got married.
Unfortunately that means I have no stash, and this craving will likely go unanswered.
    blast

  5. Ladies,

I have a similar problem. I am a night owl (and for some reason I really feel like I MUST have time while the kids are asleep to just have it be peaceful..or I feel like they really run the show). My husband leaves for work at 4:00 am…… so I am lucky if I get a few hours at a time. I wake up even when he is very quiet.

When I have more than a few Diet Coke days in a row, I call my best friend Tylenol PM and voila, I am human again. Sorry for you preggos…. I discovered this stuff when traveling and trying to avoid jetlag. Not that I am advocating the use of drugs (but it works for me….).

Hi Tracy, I love your header. You are so talented. I need you here to help me choose a couch and pillows, etc and make my house feel homey— come visit!!!

  6. I love your new header! I’m still using blogger… I’m not computer savy enough to create my own blog. So, I use the ready made one… maybe someday I’ll try to do something a little more personalized :)
