It Starts Early…

Last night, after the babies were all sound asleep, I painted the bathroom. It started just as a “let’s paint a little swatch and see how this color looks”, and sometime after Conan was over, the whole bathroom was a new, lovely shade of cocoa brown. It’s a bold departure for me, because while I love earthy colors, I have never gone nearly this dark. It’s richly chocolate colored, and I have to say, I LOVE it.

This sudden painting frenzy was spurred on by the new bathroom floors being installed tomorrow, and my need to “pretty” things up before I have to mind the spills. Anyway, I was I curious to see what the kids would say when they stumbled to go potty this morning.

Still snuggling, warm in bed with Abby, I listened to Jeffrey pinball down the hallway to the potty, and smiled when I heard him call out excitedly to Beanie… Beanie promptly sprang from bed, because that’s what he does- he is either on 100% or sound asleep- no middle ground, but that’s a story for another day…

Waiting for shouts about how different the bathroom is, instead I hear Jeff exclaim in wonder: “BEANIE! LOOK! Mom moved three toilet paper rolls to the back of the toilet tank!”

That is what my kid noticed. The toilet paper. It’s been hours, and he still hasn’t notice the bathroom is completely different. Just the paper. Men.

  1. Nice to know all your work is appreciated, huh? I know what you mean about color though, I’ve always been a whimp about committing to just one color so I always opt for low neutrals until it came to redecorating my bedroom a couple years ago. I went with Gypsy Gold and waited for the husband to come home. He loved it and I’ve never got tired of it, it helps keep it cheery in the winter months.

  2. New floor?! Oooooh, so excited to see it, I know you’ve been dreaming of it…happy day.
THREE rolls? that’s a big deal, now they’re even more prepared for a big, er, event.
Someday I’ll be able to paint, someday…

  3. HAHAHAHAHAHA… oh my goodness! that is too funny! What a great story to tell when he gets older. it will be interesting to see if he’s the same way when he marries. Then you can tell his wife “you know one time I painted the bathroom and all he noticed was the toilet paper”! lol…
