We Made It!

Oh, man, I really, really wish I could have live-blogged the trip down here!~ We’ve arrived, we’re at my parents, and all is well. We left home at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, because we heard a huge storm was blowing into the Pacific Northwest. Had we followed our original plan, we would probably still be driving. As it was, we only had icy roads, not falling snow.  Driving at night in falling snow is a level of hell.

The kids did great, and slept a good part of the way. It took 18 hours, and I drove the overnight leg. When we got to grandma and grandpa’s, we handed off the kids and collapsed. Being up for 24+ hours straight does not make for happy parents. So we’re here. It’s awesome- and, coolest thing ever (or at least of the week): My mom has given her permission to post pictures of her house! So check back in- I just have to find my camera now…

  1. I was just wondering how you guys were faring. Boy were you right on the money with your timing, because we’ve gotten 20+ inches of snow in the last 24 hours and the city is pretty much shut down.
Happy to hear you made it okay and I can’t wait to see all of your mom’s pretty Christmas decor!!

  2. Glad you made it safely! Our friends headed off to SPokan earlier than planned as well, because of the storm. It’s blowing in here tonight and tomorrow…

  3. near Missoula– Montana. 🙂 I haven’t lived here long enough to know what is normal- but this is the worst I’ve seen in my 2 winters here!

  4. That picture is fantastic, Jen! Melzie, I have no idea what is normal in Missoula- I’ve only driven through in the summer, but I do know you get more than we do in Washington!

Annika- I hope the piles of snow don’t hamper your Christmas. I’m a little worried about Mo getting out!

  5. Melzie, was the end of last winter as bad as ours? It was like this for a week or two here. I hope you at least ski or something to get some enjoyment out of it!
madhousewife, I heard the driving is lousy around there right now! Good luck and be safe!
Tracy, I totally get why we have two arms, but why weren’t we made with a spare back? ouch! shoveling sucks, lol

  6. I don’t ski- well, I could, then doctor’s would make even more $$$ from me. I’ve had way to many surgeries on my knees & feet to be able to ski. But today, we’re going cross country skiing. My husband assures me it’s made for little old ladies… if not, there is a gazebo a mile in where I can sit and drink hot cocoa for 50cents a cup. Maybe I’ll stick a book in my coat.

Last year.. I think we had maybe 2 feet of snow in the valley… we got a lot up high…

My friend, she’s now stuck up in Spokane, so it must be dandy there!
