It’s Friday!

I’m achy and tired. My plane didn’t land until almost midnight last night, and the kids were up early. But that’s not what you want to know, is it?

I just spent the last three days, (no kids, no husband, and the ticket was a gift!) in Nauvoo. I went for a conference, and of course, managed to take in a multitude of goodness. It was amazing. And other than falling down a flight of steps (at Emma’s house!) and bruising/scraping the crap out of myself, it was a marvelous trip.

But that’s just the first of my exciting news…

My little po0dunk design company was accepted, after a portfolio reveiw and vetting process, to be a vendor at the International Quilt Market in Houston this fall! I’ve designed a small line of 20 or so quilts for a few years. I’ve managed to market them locally and to a few stores in other states, and they have been well-received. But this show in Houston is the big-time. I’m nervous and excited and have a lot of details to work out, but it’s a great opportunity.

Now I need to go soak myself. In my stair tumbling, I managed to mangle my calf, thigh, top of my foot, elbow, forearm, and head. I am black and purple, literally, from head to foot! Think of it as an homage to Eliza and Emma… (500 points if you get that reference!)

  1. Tracy, I’m sorry you’re hurt, but YEAH!! Quilt show!! Oh man, I want to go work the booth with you – my sister just moved near Houston. I’m excited for you!

  2. Oh, Tracy, I am so sorry you got hurt. That would have been me for sure. I am super excited about the quilt show. What an opportunity. Success for you!

  3. Holy-schmoley! That is AWESOME!!!!!! YAY!!!! (I’m so glad for our server not blocking you at school- I tried and I was rewarded.)

I’m seriously so stoked for you! I’ll be in TX all summer visiting my mama, and Houston is only a couple hours from where I grew up. Plus, my summer passion is quilting, so I love shows- though not been active in a guild since moving here.. I loved Boise’s though! 🙂

  4. Gratz! Gratz! Gratz! I wish you the very best and I know you will go far!! Sorry to hear you are all black and blue 😦
Perhaps you resemble Eliza R. Snow… You aren’t carrying Joseph Smith’s child are you? Well, maybe not after that fall…

  5. That sounds great! I think you are showing more than the physical characteristics of Eliza and Emma (your owies) but personality characteristics also – the faith and courage to start something new and grand amidst great trials. Yea!

  6. I can’t tell you how lovely it is to have such an upbeat post from you. (And yeah, it’s upbeat, even with the bruises). I’m so excited for you and it sounds like an awesome trip..both the one you just finished and the one you’re now planning for!

  7. Hooray for trips and quilt shows and good news, despite the bruises. I hope your kids let you enjoy your soak in the tub. You are a creative genius!

  8. Congratulations on your show. That is so much fun. I was going to ask for pictures of your quilts, then I remembered that is a sore subject, so I won’t ask. Sorry. 🙂

  9. YAY! Sorry we missed at the airport 😦 What kind of points do I get for knowing but not being LDS. I think I should get double or triple even!

Let me know if you need a helper for your show. It is only an hour flight!

  10. I’m SO excited for you. The Houston show is a HUGE deal. I love quilt shows – Oh how I love quilt shows. I wish I was closer to that one. I will be cheering you on from the east though. And if you ever go national, let me know… I’ll be sure to request your patterns from my local quilt shop 🙂

  11. Hooray! Congratulations! I hope you recover quickly from your injuries, and in the meantime, enjoy your memories of Nauvoo and your excitiment about the quilt show!

  12. Congratulations! That is great news! (About the quilt show, not the black-and-blueness. That is terrible news! Hope you heal quickly. And are not pregnant.)

  13. Okay, so NOT pregnant, NOT JS polygamous wife, NOT getting pushed down the stairs by his first wife. Check.

But, you ARE doing creative goodness, you ARE getting recognition for your talent, and (hopefully) you ARE getting some money for your skills. Check, and, hopefully, CHECK!

Way to go, T. You so totally rock.

  14. My MIL goes to that show every year! My mom went a few years ago. They both rave about how wonderful it is. I just tickled that you’ll be there!

And yay for Nauvoo! What an amazing gift.

I’ll tackle Emma’s biography after I finish RSR and In Sacred Loneliness. I keep taking looooong breaks on them while I digest all of that pain and history.

Happy that the birds pop is stable. Are they using birdy BC? Baby birdies can be very cute but it sounds like you have your birdcages full already.
